The story
Daraar is drift: the marks wind and water leave on sand, carried a little further each day. Hundreds of short strokes run across the surface, never quite in line, like a ground that is still settling.
The density of the marks stays even from edge to edge, so the rug reads as texture rather than pattern. Nothing pulls focus away from the people, furniture and light in the room. It simply gives the floor a sense of movement.
This piece is made in ink, sized 6 × 9 feet. Every rug is made by hand to order, so small variations in tone and pile are part of the piece.
